8th Annual Plano International Festival

Submitted by on September 24, 2012 – 12:16 pmNo Comment

The Plano International Festival is an annual, multicultural celebration for families to experience the sights, sounds and tastes of the world and is a free family friendly event. The Festival will be held on Saturday October 13 in downtown Plano’s Haggard park from 11am-5pm.

Enjoy ethnic cuisine, cultural displays, a parade of flags, multicultural music and dance performances, an international fashion show, children’s activities, a naturalization ceremony and more.

Special attractions include games and sports from around the world and a multicultural art exhibit in conjunction with the Plano Art Association. The Festival is also expanding its green scope with the addition of a Green Village. Local businesses will showcase products for greener living and provide information on how to save energy and water, reduce the use of toxic chemicals around the home, improve recycling, and more.

The Plano International Festival is a Zero Waste event and was awarded  the 2008 and 2010 City of Plano Environmental Star of Excellence Award and recognized as a Green Source DFW Environmental Leadership Awards Finalist. Last year’s Festival diverted 82% of waste from landfill! Nearly three-quarters of all waste generated was recyled or composted, thanks to nearly 70 volunteer Green Ambassadors who helped attendees sort their trash.
