Little Rookies FREE Ice Hockey Program Starts This Saturday

Could your child be the next Mike Modano?

Free Hockey program begins September 28th at 10 local ice rinks!

Dallas Stars Owner and Governor Tom Gaglardi announces the creation of Dallas Stars Little Rookies, designed by Mike Modano.  This youth hockey initiative will consist of four 30-minute, Saturday morning on-ice sessions that provide children the opportunity to learn the basics of hockey, while outfitting the participants with all necessary equipment.

American-born, highest scorer in the history of the National Hockey League, Modano helped create the program, which is scheduled to begin at 10 area ice rinks on Saturday, Sept. 28th.

“Mike’s passion and support for youth hockey is one of the biggest reasons for the growth of the sport in Texas,” Gaglardi said. “He is a perfect fit to serve as the spokesman for this and will be active in helping direct and grow the program over the next few years.”

The program is an initiative of the Dallas Stars Foundation, which focuses its efforts on providing support to the children of the North Texas community. The Dallas Stars Little Rookies, designed by Mike Modano encourages teamwork, physical fitness and education through the sport of hockey as demonstrated by trained instructors at ice facilities across the Metroplex.

Who can participate

Children between the ages of 4 and 8 years old who have never participated in a skating or hockey program are eligible for the Dallas Stars Little Rookies, designed by Mike Modano. The program will be offered five times a year at all local area ice rinks, allowing parents to choose the rink closest to them, whether it be the Allen Community Rink, Ice at the Parks, ITC, NYTEX, Polar Ice House or one of the Dr Pepper StarCenters in Euless, Farmers Branch, Frisco, Plano and McKinney.

Committed to growing youth hockey across the state of Texas, Little Rookies is a first of its kind partnership that unifies all ice rinks in the Metroplex and helps provide a program for children to experience hockey for the first time at any ice rink in North Texas.
