Birthday Party Obsession Edition #2
Cowgirl Mia and her sidekick Carson
What an amazing 5th birthday party we had last weekend! All of the planning paid off because Mia had a fabulous milestone birthday party. I asked her what her favorite part of her party was and she said “petting all the farm animals, especially the bunnies”.
She was a gracious and sweet hostess introducing her friends to each other and thanking everyone for coming to her party. We were proud parents of our big 5 year old girl!
As we were leaving the house, my husband was in a pair of shorts and golf shirt (it was going to reach the mid 90’s that day) Mia proclaims “Daddy that is NOT a western outfit” … So back to the closet he went and came out wearing jeans, a checked shirt and his cowboy boots. Mia said, “Now that is more like it!”
I of course had no problem sporting my bubble gum pink cowboy boots, jeans and my Keith Urban concert t-shirt! Country rocks!
We hosted the party at Park Lane Ranch in Dallas. The kids had a self-service petting zoo area with bunnies, goats, sheep, chicken and 2 miniature ponies. The highlight was when the gate was accidently left open (no one admitted to being the one that left it open of course!) The 2 ponies, 3 sheep and several goats all ran out into the enclosed yard area. They were all easily corralled back into the stall, except for Turner, a stubborn pony. My husband channeled his inner cowboy, grabbed a rope and quickly “yee-haw’d” that pony back into the stall with all the kids and parents watching from inside the party room cheering!
The ranch hand trail mix served in the handmade snack cones was a bit hit. The mix consisted of yogurt covered pretzels, red licorice bites; waffle pretzels, chocolate covered raisins, and mini-wheat cereal. A very fun treat for the kids and more so for the adults!
No party is complete without a rousing Happy Birthday song and the birthday girl making her wish and blowing out her candles!

Goodie bags were a deck of cards, toy horses, and western themed shaped candy all wrapped up in a pink or navy blue bandana tied with rope and attached with a thank you tag.
Another successful birthday party in the books! I am already starting to plan for Carson’s 3rd birthday in December (and secretly thinking about the theme for Mia’s 6th birthday … what can I say, I must be obsessed!)
I reckon’ it was a good time had by all.

Too stinking cute, Liz. Love the story about Chris and the stubborn pony. Great decorations and adorable cake.
How fun! The goodies and snacks are awesome. I love that the goodie bags are fun, but not too pricey. Sometimes it seems like good bags get out of hand. Those seem just about right! Sounds like a fantastic party. And there is nothing better than when the parents get all into the fun! Can’t wait to hear about Carson’s party.
So creative! Sounds like a fun party–thanks for sharing!
How cute! Everything turned out great!!!!
