This is a really important article for parents, grandparents, other family members, and people whose kids may have friends with December birthdays. My birthday is December 24th (yes, I know that's Christmas Eve, but it is also December 24th. I get to choose when to refer to it without the actual date!), and people constantly ask me if I get jipped. It's not too offensive, but it does get annoying. No one asks my husband if he gets shafted out of Valentine's Day gifts because his birthday is February 15th! But I make it clear that it was my parents that made the day one of the most awesome days of the year. I would always get like 1 present but it would be a doozy! No bikes or power cars or anything but something really great. Thankfully I've had friends and boyfriends maintain the spirit and essence of the "special day," Now, if I could just get my husband of 10 years to treat it that way, I'd be elated. :)
