Kid Friendly Healthy Breakfast Ideas - North Texas Kids MagazineHealthy Breakfast Recipes Kids will Love

Sending our kids off to school every morning with a healthy breakfast that is not too full of sugar and has some healthy fat and protein mixed in doesn’t take a lot of effort if you plan ahead. Here are some ideas for you to try.

Oatmeal and Wheat Flour Pancakes

This recipe from allrecipes.com is ony 250 calories per serving.

Oatmeal

No recipe needed. Don’t use the instant kind, it’s full of sugar and chemicals plus it’s more expensive. Oatmeal is so easy to make and takes less than 5 minutes in the microwave. Top with some milk or yogurt and fruit. Serve with 2 breakfast sausages.

Granola with Fresh Fruit and Yogurt

Get some of your favorite granola, top with some plain greek yogurt and add fresh berries for a healthy breakfast or after school snack!

Fruit Smoothie with Protein Powder

Find a vanilla flavored protein powder that you like. Whey is a good choice if you don’t have a milk allergy.  Add the following, blend together and serve.

1 cup frozen or fresh blueberries
½ banana
1 cup raw, organic baby spinach
1 cup coconut water
A few drops of Stevia (optional – you might find the banana and coconut water are enough)

Whole Grain English Muffin Sandwich – great for on the go!

  • Scrambled egg and cheese
  • Turkey or ham and cheese
  • Bacon, egg and cheese
  • Veggie omelette and cheese

Breakfast Tacos – add your favorite ingredients to a corn or whole grain tortilla

  • Scrambled egg with a slice of bacon and a little cheese
  • Scrambled egg with sausage and spinach and cheese
  • Scrambled egg with avocado slices and cheese

Homemade Breakfast Bars

Who doesn’t love granola bars? These nut butter breakfast bars look and sound amazing!
