Is Your Child’s lunchbox healthier than the cafeteria lunch?

I loved this infographic! After volunteering in the school cafeteria, I would have to agree that it’s often a toss up between the cafeteria food and what parents or the child packed themselves for lunch. Yes, kids can throw food away but most teachers in elementary school try to get them to eat some of everything. The biggest problem was that the kids don’t have enough time to eat! If they spend time chatting with friends or are slow eaters, they don’t get to finish their lunch. Kids need a break and they need healthy food!

My kids are in the 1% that take a healthy, balanced lunch every day because we work at it and it’s important to us that they eat right. Would they rather eat pizza every day? Sure! Pizza once a month is fine or a trip to McDonald’s. Just not every day! What about you? Do you make lunches every day? Do you rely on cafeteria food?
