It’s all about customer service!
I had a very fun weekend. I decided to visit several of our clients and check out their services. Of course, being in the kids’ services industry, my kids and I visited some fun places!
First thing Saturday morning, Maggie and I went to Sweet and Sassy at Willowbend Mall in Plano. If you haven’t heard of Sweet & Sassy, and you have a daughter, then you need to check it out. First of all, it’s beautifully decorated and my 6 year old’s eyes opened wide from across the mall. Second, it is a nail and hair salon just for girls (although I am sure Mom could indulge, too, and they occasionally get a boy or two for a haircut.) They do birthday parties, also but we just went for a haircut, and what a haircut it was!
Before we ever reached the salon, we were greated by outgoing young women obviously excited to be at work. Everyone was wonderful to Maggie and made her feel comfortable her first time in a new place. Maxanne was our stylist and she was great with Maggie. Not only was she very gentle and sweet, she gave Maggie a perfect haircut, styled it and then sprayed Maggie’s hair with gold glitter. Maggie walked through the mall (after we did some shopping of course, they have lots of hair bows and clips, stuffed animal, cute bedroom decor and more) like she was Queen for the day. Being the diva that she is, she refused to play in the dirt at Conner’s soccer game because she didn’t want to mess up her hair! Not sure how I ended up with such a girly-girl but it’s hard not to have fun with it and admire her natural flair!
In the afternoon, we went over to Bounce U, a brand new indoor bounce house facility in east Plano. Conner and Maggie bounced, climbed, slid and generally ran around like crazy for about an hour during their grand opening. What fun! Like Sweet and Sassy, the staff was wonderful. Lots of outgoing young people excited about playing with all of the kids yet managing to keep them safe at the same time. The owners, Gary and Rochelle Carlton scurried around making sure everyone was having a great time.
Yesterday, we went to see Suessical, the season opener for The Classics Theatre and Art programs for kids. I have been attending their shows with my kids for years, and they are always good but this one was phenomenal. We had a great time and I want to say thanks to all of the people who volunteer to help at the shows, there were ushers and greeters and of course, the Classics staff on hand to tell us more about their programs, show us our seats and teach our kids to say thank you, one of my favorite part of their shows!
The Classics executive director, Leslie Clay stands up before the show and has the kids help her say thank you to all of their sponsors and to the parents for bringing the kids. It’s fun to hear hundreds of little voices shouting “thank you”.
My long-winded point in all of this is that customer service is everything! Everywhere we went this weekend, we were treated so well! We are ready to go back to any one of the places we went. It wasn’t so much about the place (although they were outstanding) but about all of the wonderful people we met and how we were treated. What a great model for kids. When we treat them with respect, joy and kindness, they learn to treat others that way also!
Where are some of the places you have been lately that you have been treated like royalty?
