Lone Star Circus Presents Zingari

Lone Star Circus Rings in the New Year by Celebrating Gypsy Roots

Dallas’ very own Lone Star Circus will be presented once again by Dallas Children’s Theater in a NEW holiday spectacular. The 2015 production, entitled ZINGARI, is a loving tribute to the old Gypsy roots of many circus families, replete with a cornucopia of talented acrobats, aerialists, equilibrists, jugglers, clowns and four-legged stars from all over the world! ZINGARI will run in DCT’s Baker Theater, December 26, 2015 – January 3, 2016.

In Italian, “Zingari” means “Gypsies.” Practically all ancient circus families have some Italian blood and with it some relations to the Zingari. This started in the Middle Ages when the troupes of Italian acrobats became nomadic and other traveling people who chose to become entertainers joined up with them.

Lone Star Circus’ Founder and Creative Director Fanny Kerwich looks forward to the all-new production of ZINGARI and its celebration of her heritage, saying, “All old performing families like mine are still Zingari somewhere deep inside, whether or not we actually are Gypsies. This is fine with me. I’m proud of my roots, and I am proud to be a Zingara, even if I have only a few drops of Zingaro blood.” An eighth generation circus performer, Kerwich, who brought her knowledge of circus arts to the Metroplex in 2006 and is instrumental in the emerging local circus movement, further adds, “I love my fellow circus people, and I love the circus passionately. This show is a tribute to all Zingari, my people.”

The roster of international circus stars includes the following:

  • The striking and balletic hand balancing and aerial hoop of the graceful Duo Resonance (USA/Russia)
  • The extraordinary and mesmerizing juggling of Sebastian and Rejean (USA/Canada)
  • The amazing feline antics of Mayya Panfilova and her trained house cats (Russia)
