Monster Energy Supercross Invades Cowboys Stadium
Don’t miss your opportunity to catch the world’s best supercross riders battle it out at the legendary Cowboys Stadium on Saturday, February 16 for the Monster Energy AMA Supercross, an FIM World Championship race. Practice and qualifying begins at 12:30 p.m., and the main event begins at 7:00 p.m.
Monster Energy Supercross has a storied history in the Dallas-Fort Worth area with the first-ever supercross race held in Dallas on March 1, 1975. From 1983-2008, Texas Stadium hosted 26 consecutive Monster Energy Supercross races and is regarded as one of the sport’s most historical cities to have hosted the championship. Now, Cowboys Stadium carries on the tradition as the world’s top Supercross riders, two-time defending champ Ryan Villopoto, Ryan Dungey, Chad Reed, James Stewart and more battle it out for the esteemed 450SX Class crown.
Last year, in front of more than fifty-thousand screaming fans inside Cowboys Stadium, Monster Energy Kawasaki’s Ryan Villopoto scored his third-consecutive win of the season at Round 7 of the Monster Energy AMA Supercross season, an FIM World Championship. His teammate Jake Weimer rode strong all night to round out the podium in third place. Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Broc Tickle battled to finish 11th. In the first round of the AMA Supercross Lites Eastern Region, Monster Energy/Pro Circuit/Kawasaki’s Darryn Durham nailed the holeshot aboard his 2012 KX™250F and went on to secure the runner-up spot and earn first career supercross podium. His teammate Blake Baggett also got a great jump off the gate, but went down in the first rhythm section, lost a lap early and finished in 15th place.
