The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley at Dallas Children’s Theater Through July 12th

The Musical Adventures of Flat Stanley by Timothy Allen McDonald and Jonathan K. Waller with music by David Weinstein, Jonathan K. Waller, Timothy Allen McDonald and Stephen Gabriel, will run at DCT June 19 – July 12 including an ASL performance and a sensory-friendly performance.
Stanley is a normal 10-year-old boy—too normal, if you ask him. His wish for adventure is granted when a bulletin board flattens Stanley, enabling him to mail himself all around the world! Stanley scours the globe, visiting the Louvre art museum Paris; going to Los Angeles to visit a friend; and making a surfing movie in Hawaii. In this heartwarming musical adventure, Stanley learns that there is no place like home. Johnny Lee, who plays Stanley says, “At the end of the show, he really decides that all this stuff is really cool, but he’d really rather be with his family, sharing great experiences with them.”

Johnny Lee, 19, plays Stanley. Lee, who was homeschooled, didn’t do a Flat Stanley mailing project as a kid, but he did receive one in the mail from a friend. Lee shares, “First of all, being flat is not something you would normally see in children’s books. At first, (Stanley) thinks it’s something bad, and that nobody’s going to like him, and he won’t have any friends. But people begin to understand that there’s something very special about him. I think a lot of kids can relate to that.”
