Go Red for Women 2014 - North Texas Kids

This Friday, Feb 7th is National Wear Red Day

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined. For more than 10 years, the American Heart Association has sponsored National Wear Red Day to raise awareness in the fight against heart disease in women.

Since the first National Wear Red Day 10 years ago, tremendous strides have been made in the fight against heart disease in women, including:

  • Nearly 1 million women have joined the movement
  • 34% Fewer women are dying of heart disease each year
  • 330 Fewer women are dying every day
  • 627,000+ women’s lives have been saved

But There’s Still More Work To Be Done…

  • 1 in 3 women still die each year
  • 1,100 women are still dying every day
  • Only 25% of women have increased their physical activity
  • 44% of women do not know that heart disease is their No. 1 killer

On National Wear Red Day, Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, be sure to wear something red to show your support for women with heart disease. Here are 10 more ways to Go Red! You can also change your profile picture on Facebook and Twitter with this image representing National Wear Red Day.
