Sci-Tech Discovery Center Opens Two New Exhibits in January
Learn About the Science of Sports and the Physics Behind Fun at Amusement Parks at Sci-Tech Discovery Center
Two new traveling exhibitions will be opening at Sci-Tech Discovery Center in Frisco, TX. Team Up! Explore Science & Sports and Amusement Park Science will be available for visitors to explore January 28 – September 2, 2012.
The Team-Up! exhibit at Sci-Tech allows children, families and groups to enjoy the fascination that is involved in becoming a winning athlete. Visitors will have opportunities to test their own skills in such sports as basketball, football, baseball, tennis, soccer and even extreme sports like snowboarding. At the same time guests will be amazed and educated at the level of science that is involved in sports. Children will learn principles of geometry, physics, force and friction in a way that is both intriguing and relative to their favorite sports. Several interactive components include: “Get in the Game,” “How Fast Was That Pitch,” “Ricochet Racket,” and “Set Shot.” Team Up!, sponsored by Baylor Medical Center at Frisco, offers fun and learning for the whole family.
Amusement Park Science, has 12 hands-on exhibit components, including a Create-a-Coaster area, interactive video and computer kiosks, bumper cars and much more. These interactive stations explore the physics behind the fun at amusement parks. Visitors will discover key concepts like such as Newton’s Laws of Motion, Angular Momentum and other key physics principles as they explore this exhibit.
“We continue to look for dynamic exhibits that will be both engaging and educational. Team Up! and Amusement Park Science feature fun content that also meets many state learning objectives,” explains Sci-Tech Executive Director, Erica Yaeger.
Additional support for both exhibits is provided by Dallas Social Venture Partners.
