Local Farmers Markets

Summer Guide to Local Farmers Markets

by Jennifer Barling

Farmers markets are a great place to get fresh, locally grown produce, and summer is the perfect time for enjoying the bounty.  You can try out new fruits and vegetables, or sample handmade products like jellies, cheeses, and breads.

Farmers markets also provide a fun outing for the entire family.  Enjoy the warm weather in these open-air markets while you introduce your children to a variety of healthy items.  Experts say that if you get your kids involved with choosing and purchasing their food, they’ll be more likely to try new things.  It certainly couldn’t hurt – go for it!

Here’s a list of websites for some local farmers markets.  This is a great time of year to go check out everything they have to offer.  If you know of any others, please let us know and we’ll add them here!
