Grammy Award Winning Producer Heads to Dallas in Search of Next Music Super Star

Multi-Grammy Award winning hit producer Keith Thomas, along with Bernard and Molly Porter, founders of PCG Universal, head to Dallas, Texas, in search of top musical talent during the NEXT DALLAS event August 4th – 5th, 2017. The weekend talent search begins with a workshop on Friday from 6-9 pm, followed by an artist showcase on Saturday, beginning at 10 am.

With more than 40 #1 hits, album sales in excess of 30 million, and experience working with a deep catalog of artists, including Whitney Houston, Luther Vandross, Katy Perry, Kings of Leon, Amy Grant, and Texas’ own Selena and Jessica Simpson, Thomas certainly has an eye for talent. And, with more than 30 years in the entertainment industry and nationally recognized A&R prowess, Bernard Porter has a proven knack for shaping talent. He and co-founder, Molly Porter have built an elite team of instructors, coaches, and artist development specialists who have collectively worked with artists in a range of genres, from Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood, to Beyonce and Taylor Swift, to The Newsboys and Fleetwood Mac.

Dallas is home to many things—from America’s football team to the birthplace of 7-Eleven—and according to Thomas and Porter, the city may also be home to the world’s next music gold. “After experiencing firsthand the talent waiting to be mined in the Dallas area, we at PCG Universal have been waiting for the opportunity to partner with a significant player in the music industry to co-host an event like this,” says Porter. “Keith is an incredibly talented producer and songwriter with a wealth of industry knowledge. He’s also a great friend, so the match creates a golden opportunity for artists.”

NEXT DALLAS Workshop and Q & A

During Friday’s workshop and Q&A session, the Porters and Thomas will offer artists and their parents guidance on how the industry works behind the scenes, including what it takes to become a successful artist and the logistics of launching a recording career. On Saturday, participants will then have the opportunity to perform and receive feedback on what’s working and what’s not and ways to improve their performance. In addition, some artists may be extended the opportunity to work with the Porters and Keith Thomas in Nashville.

“We are actively looking for the stars of tomorrow,” says Thomas. “This is not an event where aspiring and emerging artists will spend a lot of money, yet never get to talk to the people involved. NEXT Dallas is a unique and rare opportunity for singers and bands of all ages and genres to showcase AND interact with seasoned music industry pros directly.”
