Best Home Organizing Products for 2019
What better way to know what the best organizing products on the market are than from a professional organizing company? I hope you are ready to get organized this year and there is no better place to start than with our recommended organizing products for 2019. Our organizers are always happy to share the products they use and love. They will tell you why the item is so useful, sometimes the cost, and where it can be purchased. Keep in mind the products are mentioned in no particular order, so we hope you find a few you can use to get organized.
Organize Essential Oils
Professional organizer Jennifer Wallace finds new products each year and we have two we want to mention from 2018. Essential oils have become common items to find in our client households. Jennifer said, “A client of mine recently bought this spice shelf for her oils. It worked great! The lip holds the oils on the shelf.”
Organizing Closets and Toys
Both Jennifer and another long-time organizer Jeanice Kett submitted the same product this year from the IKEA Trofast series. Jennifer noted Legos are in almost every home with young children. “As a mother of three, we had many Legos at our house. Now as a grandmother, once again, lots of Legos. I have found that a great way to store them is in the IKEA Trofast.” There are several different frames available and several size tubs. The tubs are easy to pull in and out, which is great for clean-up. Each tub can be labeled according to what is in it. “One of my grandsons likes things organized, so we divided the Legos at my house by color, and each bin is labeled a different color.”
Jeanice also believes these are extremely versatile pieces. “This is more than a toy room makeover. It can be used in any closet to provide drawer space. Works well for toys, crafts, material for sewing, etc. I have used it in closets like the transformation below, making under the stairs a toy room. I love that it comes in wood, white, or black. The varied sizes will work within any space, even as a window seat for arts and crafts. You can have colorful bins or white bins. They can be labeled easily, and the sizes of the containers can be adjusted for the products you are trying to store. They also fit well on a shelf for easy trade out when you want to give the kids a different play center.” When checking out IKEA’s site, know this product is a series so you pick and choose the frame you want, in the color you want, and with the inserts that solve your storage challenge.
Organizing Plastic Bags and Gift Wrap
Pat, one of our organizers in the Flower Mound area, gets excited about the IKEA VARIERA plastic bag dispenser. “This is one product used for many things! Plastic bags in kitchen, giftwrap, and now for towels my husband uses in the garage or for the car. My idea in the garage was to use two. One is for clean towels and the other for dirty towels! My husband likes the easy access to the towels. (He put this up! Not where I suggested! Lol!)”.
Functional and Pretty
One of our newer organizers, Christi, is very creative with how a space looks and functions. She has been gaining knowledge of many products. Her favorite product right now is the bamboo drawer organizers from The Container Store. Their drawer inserts have springs for a snug fit. While similar inserts are available in other materials, these are higher quality. They can also be found at Bed Bath & Beyond, HomeGoods and Lowes.
Crafts Storage
Jill, a recent hire in 2018, is a crafty crafter and very creative. She likes these items pictured below at the 99¢ Only Store. “Very simple but very effective little slotted container from the 99¢ Only Store. And yes, it is only 99¢! It is great for crafters with small components or for tool boxes to separate nuts and bolts, etc. As you can see from the picture, I use as storage for beads and crystals and I used all of these sparkles for my daughter’s wedding. It was so easy to travel with them and open and decorate with ease!”
List Makers will Love These
Who does not use Post It Notes? They have so many uses, from quick notes, reminders, or labeling something for a long period of time. Benita, one of our Frisco organizers, has found the Post It Note on steroids. It is called Post-It Extreme Notes and this is a heavy duty product. The highlight is their ability to stick in tough conditions, so your message will too. Make sure you get a box of these for 2019.
This next product is not something I will personally use even with all the benefits. I tend to be a privacy fanatic and having something hear everything I am saying even when you think it is turned off makes me uneasy.
Alexa as Your Personal Assistant
Laurie is a top-notch organizer and can tackle any project, whether family management, a business, or a family’s home. Her new favorite organizing tool for 2019 is Amazon’s Alexa. Laurie said, “She serves as my personal assistant! With a simple voice command, Alexa sets timers, makes grocery lists, plays music, provides news and weather reports, reports on upcoming calendar events and controls smart home devices (lights, locks, cameras, thermostats, etc.). I have especially enjoyed Alexa during the holidays. I walk in the door from work and tell Alexa to turn on the Christmas lights and music and the ambience is set for a relaxing evening at home. When I have to focus on a task that requires concentration, I have Alexa set a timer and I focus on that one task until the timer goes off.”
Cabinet Organizers
This year I have three great products from 2018 I think you will love in 2019. My first suggestion is the Silver Wire Stacking Shelves at The Container Store. They come in two different sizes and are heavy duty, allowing them to support heavy items and not bend under the weight. While these shelves have many different uses, I put a few in my own kitchen to organize some cupboards. My goal when organizing any area is to maximize my space. So many of us seem to have more stuff than space, so organizing a space to hold more would be the perfect solution. Pictured below is under my kitchen stove area. You can see how I slid the larger of the two shelves in to create another shelf, giving me more usable space. If your space is even taller, you can stack another shelf on top.
My next product is wire vertical dividers. As you can see in the photo above, I used two of the large dividers to store platters. Until I found these dividers, I had my platters stacked on top of each other, making it difficult to get to the ones on the bottom. I can put up to two platters per slot or use the spaces to hold cake pans and cookie sheets. This organizing tool maximizes space and gives me easy access to my favorite kitchen items.
Travel App
The last product that goes on our Top 10 Organizing Products for 2019 is an app. Yes, digital items can keep you organized too. Roadtrippers is a user-friendly travel app that allows you to set your destination, find additional stops along the way, and help keep your travel schedule on track. I have used this app for both long and short road trips and was amazed at what it can suggest for side trips along the route. It also estimates miles and time in between stops for sleeping, eating, and more.
There are so many exciting organizing products to research and try. Know that each of these products has been selected by not only a professional organizer, but by someone just like yourself who has many of the same challenges. Organizers have space dilemmas, busy lives, and clutter from time to time that require attention and a solution. We are always working to live a more organized life. We are problem solvers and we hope our recommended organizing products for 2019 help you solve your organizational challenges.
