Zombie Fest at Dallas Children’s Theater

Night of the Living Dead - Dallas Children's Theater

Night of the Living Dead at Dallas Children’s Theater, October 17 – 31, 2014

You can’t keep a good zombie down! DCT’s Halloween tradition rises again! They’re back…they’re dead…and they’re hungry….The cult classic Night of the Living Dead returns to the DCT stage!  Radiation from a fallen satellite transforms the dead into flesh-eating zombies, and no one is safe. It’s the 1968 black and white, B-movie horror classic brought to life (figuratively speaking)! Full of thrills, chills, and dark satire,  Night of the Living Dead is intended for an audience of teens and adults, 13 years old and above.  The production contains strong language and situations and is not suitable for young children.

An ensemble of all-teen actors will tackle the heightened horror in this apocalyptic tale that is the inspiration for such recent hits as Shaun of the Dead, World War Z, and AMC’s The Walking Dead.  It all started with this unassuming, low-budget 1968 independent film that broke new ground in the horror genre and has continued to terrify audiences to this day.

Fallout from a satellite probe shot to Venus returns to earth carrying a mysterious radiation that transforms the unburied dead into flesh-eating zombies.  Seven people trapped in an isolated farmhouse by the ravenous ghouls begin to turn on each other. A gripping terror-filled play that brings the cult classic to life.  A blend of thrilling horror laced with touches of humor envelopes the audience in the action and unfolds into a shocking theatrical ending.

Come see what makes Night of the Living Dead an intense story of ghastly, yet outrageously fun proportions.  “They’re coming to get you, Barbara.”

There will be a zombie costume contest and a flash mob of “Thriller” occurring throughout the night – a total zombie fest!
