How to Choose and Display Kids Art

Child's Art Rainbow

Easy to Make Art Displays for Your Child’s Art

by Samantha Conner

If you have small children, then you know about the ‘art guilt’. The first day my daughter came home from preschool, her backpack was filled with glittery, painty, sandy creations. I was thrilled! I excitedly displayed my kid’s art all over our fridge. The next day, more of the same. I was elated to see all the things she could do. But after about 2 weeks, I could scarcely find the handle of the fridge, much less the water dispenser. What was I supposed to do with all of her art? Our poor fridge couldn’t keep up with rate at which she was creating- and it was only September!

Happy, Healthy Pregnancy for Mom and Baby

Happy Healthy Pregnancy

Tips to Maintain Pregnancy Health

by Katie Moore

Making the decision to have a child is a huge one that requires a lot of thought and a lot of life-style changes for a woman. A mommy-to-be will need to forgo her enjoyable after work cocktail and sushi roll for a while and focus on taking care of her body so that her little one will be as healthy as possible. Moms need to know that everything they eat, do, drink and feel is directly affecting the child that they carry; pregnancy is the time in a woman’s life she needs to be as healthy as possible.

Everyone in the metroplex (OK, maybe everyone in the entire state of Texas) knows the big draws of Arlington: the Ballpark, Six Flags, and Cowboys Stadium.  But unless you’ve got money to burn, those places can really put a hurt on your wallet.  Given my thrifty nature, I’ve uncovered some great resources in Arlington for free (or cheap) kid-friendly entertainment and other summer activities.  When you start planning your summer, don’t forget to include these.  Maybe you’ll save enough money to take your family to a Texas Rangers game!

Empower Kids by Giving Them ‘Keys to Peace’

Well-Meaning Parents Often Fail to Teach Vital Values, Author Says

by Rachel Albert

Parents and educators are always trying to spark student participation whether it’s in the classroom, in the local community, or throughout the world.

When middle-school students at Allison Academy in North Miami Beach were asked what they could do to improve their country, they focused on what they understood – bullying, violence and racism.

Those problems are all rooted in the same issues, says Rachel Albert, author of Quest to Telos, a young adult novel where fantasy meets reality and even world peace is possible.

“They stem from a lack of personal integrity and absence of social responsibility,” she says.

“Children who choose to put those values into practice are actively working toward peace. But they can only put into practice what they’ve learned; instilling those values may seem simple, but many parents miss the mark and actually model the opposite.”
