Have you ever noticed that when you want your kids (or spouse or anyone, for that matter) to get something done, that the more you yearn for them to get started and finish it up, the more they resist and drag their feet?
Expecting kids to never complain about helping out around the house is probably unrealistic. After all, adults experience days when lying in bed and watching television or reading a book is much more appealing than being productive. But trying to get your children to do chores like mowing the lawn, taking out the trash, cleaning their rooms or picking up toys does not have to be a battle every time. There are some strategies parents can adopt to help inspire children to want to take responsibility and complete chores around the house.

It’s August and that means back-to-school time is here. Carpooling, bringing your kids to school every day and running around town to extracurricular activities like football and dance is right around the corner, if not already happening. Whether you are driving just down the street or have to run all around town, this is a great time to make sure your car is in tip-top shape for getting your kids to and from where they need to be. Shoe Drive to Benefit Non-Profit The Shoe Bank, Serving Thousands of Families in DFW
Collecting more than 17,500 pairs of shoes for a charity is no easy feat. However, if anyone can, it would be Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey and the generous circus fans across the Metroplex as all participate in a Guinness World Records attempt for ‘Most Shoes Donated to a Charity in a 24-Hour Period’ on August 8-9 at The Big Feat – The World’s Largest Shoe Drive, a Ringling Bros. Special Event. Shoes collected at AT&T Plaza at American Airlines Center will be donated to Rockwall-based The Shoe Bank, a non-profit providing shoes to families locally and throughout the world. Once collected and tabulated, all shoes will be redistributed by The Shoe Bank as kids go back to school.
