When Does Your Child’s Behavior Need Outside Help?

A child’s behavior has meaning. Sometimes behavior tells us that the child is scared or sad. Sometimes behavior tells us that the child is angry or hurting. And although some children’s behaviors can be particularly troubling – like biting, hitting, tantrums, or head banging — these behaviors give us a window into the child’s world. Behavior is an expression of the child’s experience and it is up to adults to help sort through the “problem” behaviors to find their meaning and purpose.
