Photographs, pictures, digital images. Whatever we call them, most of us have plenty. Some are displayed in frames on the wall, others are stored in photo albums and boxes, and some are stored on electronic devices. Our pictures create a photographic journal of where we have been and captures the memories we have enjoyed with loved ones.
It has been almost two months since school started and by now you probably have piles of school papers on your kitchen counter tops, dining table, or moving from place to place as you try to find them a permanent home.
Help has officially arrived. In my video below, I talk about creating a Holding Tank or dedicated storage space for your child’s papers. The location of the Holding Tank (one per child) should be close to where the papers enter the home and are processed. This could be in the kitchen, mudroom, garage, or living room, making sure that the tank is not so far away that the papers often do not make it to the holding area.

Winter is ending, spring is upon us, and the heat in some states is not far behind. This is the window of opportunity in my state of Texas to organize and declutter our garages. Garages have become multi-purpose spaces for most families. While they are meant to “garage” the second most important investment you own – your car – they have become overflow storage for household items, a place to store Craig’s List, eBay, and garage sale pieces you are planning to sell one day; and the home for lawn care, pool, and other outdoor products. Stop the madness!
If you are blessed enough to have a spare closet in your home, you will love the ideas described below for getting your space organized to suit your needs. You might even be able to apply some of them to your own master closet, allowing you to maximize space and give you more function in the space.
Closets are fun to organize, and because they are usually a small space, the project can be completed in a weekend. This makes it clear to see the finish line. It is best to enlist some help before you start. Many times another person will visualize your space totally different than you see it, offering another level of beauty or function.
