With extreme weather approaching North Texas, below is a list of emergency warming centers for the general public as well as temporary emergency shelters for homeless individuals. Note that this is not a comprehensive list, but hope that it helps.

Assistance for homeless individuals 

First United Methodist Church, 407 N. Mesquite St. 1/23-1/27 (The shelter will only remain open on dates when overnight temperatures reach degrees or less for four or more consecutive hours. Capacity up to 20. Check-in 7-9pm with check-out at 9am; overnight – breakfast served)

Mmm…turkey and all our favorite sides — can’t wait for Thanksgiving dinner! Of course, then there is the inevitable leftover turkey.

My kids will eat only so many turkey sandwiches, but they love these sour cream turkey enchiladas.  This easy-to-make casserole will feed your family for a couple of days and it also freezes well.

2 cups finely chopped cooked turkey (this is a good way to use up a lot of dark meat!)
