According to Dr. Newmark, the fifth critical emotional need of children is the need to feel Secure.  Security means creating a positive environment where people care about one another and show it; where people express themselves and others listen; where differences are accepted and conflicts are resolved constructively; where enough structure and rules exist for children to feel safe and protected, and where children have opportunities to actively participate in their own evolution and that of the family.

April is Math Awareness Month and a good time to evaluate your child’s math skills. In the upper grades, math can become frustrating to students and homework often becomes a source of anxiety. Many find that math is the most difficult to master of all the subjects. Parents can ease this frustration by providing help and positive feedback to their children during homework time.

Day Out with Thomas – Event Info.

Our favorite No. 1 engine is set to roll into Grapevine for the Day Out with Thomas: The Go Go Thomas Tour 2013.  All little engineers and their families are invited to take a ride on Thomas and participate in fun Thomas-themed activities.  The event will take place at the Grapevine Vintage Railroad on two weekends in April: 12-14 & 19-21, 2013.
