Our family has a tradition of finding a special piece to add to our ornament collection each year. This year, we were invited by Vetro Glassblowing in Grapevine to make our own handblown glass ornaments. Cool experience for the whole family to watch and the twins enjoyed participating. And, of course, we ended up with beautiful ornaments for our collection this year!
Though kids may view Thanksgiving as the first stop on the school holiday vacation train, there’s a lot more for them to know about it than simply no class, stuffed turkey and whipped cream-topped pumpkin pie. Considering Thanksgiving is one of the only holidays in which children can learn about sharing, community, gratitude and compassion for others, it’s important to take the time to talk about its meaning.
Did you go to the beach this summer? Did you kids bring home buckets full of sea shells, even the broken ones? Does your book shelf look like mine? Only the nicest shells get a place on the book shelf, the rest our outside in the garden and that pile is growing quickly. Here’s another shot of some we collected recently that were washed and laid out to dry in the sun. All these beautiful colors definitely make me think about fun sea shell crafts I have done over the years!
