September 21st is World Peace Day

International Day of Peace

The International Day of Peace (“Peace Day”) is observed around the world each year on September 21st. Established in 1981 by unanimous United Nations resolution, Peace Day provides a globally shared date for all humanity to commit to Peace above all differences and to contribute to building a Culture of Peace.

Peace Day is a reminder to focus on peace and has grown into a global movement. This year’s theme is Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.

Del Castillo Rocks The Kessler with a Joyous Mix of Cultures

Del Castillo Concert - Mina Frannea Review - North Texas Kids Magazine

Concert Review: Del Castillo at The Kessler

by Mina Frannea

My husband and I had a chance to have a night out to ourselves. For our date night, we went to see Austin-based Del Castillo perform at The Kessler. Formed by talented musician brothers Mark and Rick del Castillo, the band has a great performance style, their music a fusion of Latin and Rock-n-Roll with a resounding, cross-cultural beat that makes you want to get up and move.

Lead singer Alex Ruiz’s voice has a soothing, sultry tone and the artist brings an edgy, soulful energy into his movement on stage that seems to come from a place deep within.

How to Help Hurricane Harvey Victims

Where to Find Out How to Help Harvey Victims

In the course of the discussion, I was reminded that we all deal differently with crisis in our lives. Those impacted by Hurricane Harvey need the basics and financial support for sure, but they also need emotional support, particularly if they have kids. Just imagine how parents must feel having to be displaced from their homes, schools, businesses and jobs, but, on top of that, having to take care of and entertain their kids too.
