8 Egg-citing Easter Traditions

Easter Traditions - Egg Hunt with Little Girl

Easter traditions you can enjoy with your family

by Kerrie McLoughlin

Easter was always an exciting holiday when I was growing up. I would spend the night with my grandparents the night before Easter, and I could SWEAR I heard the Easter bunny scooting across the floor in the night. Upon waking I’d bolt out of bed to see what candy and other treats I’d been brought, then we’d head to church for Easter services and a massive egg hunt. My day would end in a sugar coma on the couch, watching “The Wizard of Oz” with my parents. Below are 8 ideas for Easter traditions you can try with your own kids. Pick and choose a few of them each year … and stick with the ones your family loves!

Especiallyneeded.org is hosting it’s 2nd annual Easter Egg Hunt for Individuals with Special Needs and their families. Especially Needed is an organization based on a vision that a community can exist where individuals with special needs are valued, respected and included. A community made up of caring people who serve as a support system as well as mentors to children and adults.

Founder of Especiallyneeded.org, Heather, has a 9 year old daughter with Downs Syndrome and understands the trials and tribulations a family faces every day — that sometimes simple things like attending a community event may not be so simple.

Easter Dallas Ft Worth

Easter is Sunday, April 8, 2012.

We are going to our first Easter egg hunt this weekend and Easter is still a few weeks away. Kids are excited by the colorful Easter egg displays, stuffed Easter bunnies and candy at the local stores. My daughter is digging through closets to find her Easter basket and we are already searching for creative ways to dye and decorate Easter eggs this year.
