How to Work from Home with Kids

It’s hard for kids to understand the concept that “Mommy or Daddy has to work,” especially in the summertime when fun is supposed to rule. Of course you can attempt to get everything done early in the morning or late at night while they sleep, but that doesn’t always work out. I’m often asked how I work from home while caring for my own 5 children, as well as having extra kids over during the summer. Here are a few of my own ideas for making summer work for everyone!

I’m guilty of it, and I admit it. When I’m too overwhelmed or busy or tired to think up an activity to keep my kids busy while I cook dinner, fold laundry, do dishes or those other 1,000 things it takes to keep a household running, I turn on the TV. While that’s fine sometimes, I don’t want them watching TV all day during the summer! Here are some ideas I’ve found for keeping kids happy indoors when it’s too hot (or too cold, or just plain rainy) to send them outside.

Spelling practice is getting harder and harder as spring has sprung, yet the grind of school continues.  The request to taking time to practice spelling words is being answered with whines and complaints. That is why I am so excited about today’s tutorial on how to make DIY Letter Puppets.  Kids Activities Blog knows if you can make spelling practice fun, it will happen!

Making the letter puppets is the first part of the adventure.  I enlisted the help of my 7 year old who was excited to participate once he saw paint and googly eyes were involved.
