They offer an abundance of materials perfect for families on a budget – and best of all, these crafty projects teach kids about giving back, as all ReStore proceeds support the Dallas Habitat mission. Here are a few fun, easy and affordable weekend projects you can do with your kids:

Register for Fun Run to Fight Against Childhood Cancer

Join the fight against childhood cancer by running or walking in the 27th annual WOKC Oktoberfest Run for the Children 5K/1M on Saturday, September 22, 2012. This family-friendly event is presented by Tom Thumb and is part of the annual Addison Oktoberfest celebration.  All proceeds benefit Wipe Out Kids Cancer (WOKC), a Dallas-based nonprofit organization founded in 1980 dedicated to raising awareness and funding for pediatric cancer research and to providing hope and support to children with cancer. Online registration is available through midnight, Thursday, September 20. Race Day registration will be available from 7:00 – 8:00 am the morning of the event in the pavilion at Addison Circle Park.

Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer and Jersey Mike’s have teamed up to raise money and awareness for pediatric cancer research

Jersey Mike’s Subs restaurants throughout the DFW area will offer FREE subs on Wednesday, March 28, in a grand finale for the 3rd annual March Month of Giving fundraising campaign for Wipe Out Kids’ Cancer.  The fundraising finale has been dubbed Make A Difference Day, and all 19 DFW Jersey Mike’s restaurants will give customers a FREE regular sub in exchange for a $2 donation to Wipe Out Kids, Cancer, although the hope is that people will give more.
