North Texas Irish Festival Brings Family-friendly Event to Fair Park March 8-10

The North Texas Irish Festival is back with another year of amazing music, dance, and cultural talent to celebrate the rich tradition of Irish and Celtic culture. This year’s event is March 8-10, 2019, in Dallas’s own Fair Park. Tens of thousands of people will come from across Texas and other parts of the country to visit one of the largest Irish festivals in the U.S., a family-friendly event that features live music, dancing, storytelling, chef demonstrations and more on 13 stages throughout Fair Park. Attendees will also enjoy horse shows, sheepherding demonstrations, beer and whiskey tasting, genealogy research opportunities, shopping, animal rescue groups, child-friendly entertainment, and free arts and crafts for the kids.

Fireworks and Other Loud Noises Can Cause Permanent Damage

As Americans enjoy fireworks displays as part of their Fourth of July festivities, the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) reminds everyone that they can take a few simple steps to prevent potentially lifelong consequences of unsafe hearing behaviors.

According to the National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders, approximately 26 million Americans between the ages of 20 and 69 have high-frequency hearing loss from overexposure to loud noises at work or during leisure activities. Hearing loss can occur gradually over time, but can also result from a single exposure to an intense sound. Children and others may be particularly vulnerable to this risk. While hearing loss can often be prevented, there is no way to reverse hearing loss.

Fair Park Sparks is happening this Saturday, June 9, 2018 from 2 – 10pm.

This FREE family-friendly event features three bands, children’s play area with themed inflatables, carnival rides, roving costumed entertainers, face painting, clowns, balloon magicians and more. Stay for the fireworks show at the end of the night.
